Launching today — Welcome to lyldenlawnews!

The slow, sometimes halting progress toward life in the digital age picks up a bit today, with this launch of a new website. Some of what you will see here will look the same — close coverage of the Supreme Court, keeping up with lower courts, and watching the law as an always fascinating human pursuit. A taste for constitutional history will become apparent, as hopefully it already is to those who follow biweekly posts at Constitution Daily, the compelling and truly creative blog of the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. For those who have a generous habit of following my work at scotusblog.com, be assured that it will continue, uninterrupted and, sometimes, almost any time of the day or night. Welcome to lyldenlawnews.com

Lyle Denniston continues to write about the U.S. Supreme Court, although he “retired” at the end of 2019 following more than six decades on that news beat. He was there for three revolutions – civil rights, women’s rights, and gay rights – and the start of a fourth, on transgender rights. His career of following the law began at the Otoe County Courthouse in his hometown, Nebraska City, Nebraska, in the fall of 1948. His online, eight-week, college-level course – “The Supreme Court and American Politics” – is available from the University of Baltimore Law School, and it is free.
